MemberHost vs Levamo for Membership and BuddyBoss Sites
Levamo (formerly Rapyd Cloud) and MemberHost both host logged-in WordPress sites. How they differ on infrastructure, support scope, caching and uptime terms, and who each suits.

Levamo and MemberHost are both built for WordPress sites where most of the traffic is logged in: memberships, courses and communities. Levamo is a self-serve platform with published plans, 24/7 live chat and a team that also built BuddyBoss. MemberHost is a bespoke service where each client’s hosting environment is sized and configured for its plugins, with the WordPress side of problems included in the work.
This comparison was prepared by MemberHost from each company’s public documentation, checked on 15 September 2026. MemberHost is not affiliated with or endorsed by Levamo or BuddyBoss, and both names are trademarks of their owners. Contract-specific terms may differ from what is published. At a glance
| Levamo | MemberHost | |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | “Levamo was founded by the same team that built BuddyBoss” (Levamo). Formerly Rapyd Cloud (Levamo) | Built by the founders of MemberFix, a membership site agency since 2011 (about us) |
| Infrastructure | “LiteSpeed-based server technology on cloud infrastructure backed by AWS”, each environment in “its own fully isolated container with dedicated CPU, RAM, and IO” (Levamo) | Each client gets its own node or cluster with dedicated resources, running as virtual machines on bare metal servers from data centre partners, on hardware we specify, with our own LiteSpeed Enterprise-based stack (performance) |
| Locations | US East (Northern Virginia) and Europe (Dublin) (Levamo pricing FAQ) | Deployed in the geography you need (uptime) |
| Plans | Four published tiers by number of sites and monthly visits, from 1 site and 25K visits to 30 sites and 1.8M (Levamo pricing) | No fixed tiers. Priced per site on traffic, plugin stack and support needs |
| Object caching | “KeyDB & Redis Object Cache” on Business plans and above, not on Starter (Levamo pricing) | Configured per site, with Redis, Relay and OPcache where they suit the plugin stack (performance) |
| Support channels | 24/7 live chat, “First response in under a minute” (Levamo support) | Not 24/7. You work directly with the team that runs the servers |
| Plugin and theme problems | Included only with the Enhanced ($100/month) or Elite ($500/month) support add-ons (Levamo support) | Investigated at the server and WordPress levels together (BuddyBoss hosting) |
| Uptime commitment | 99.99%, credits of 10%, 25% or 100% of next month’s fees, cloud provider availability not covered (Levamo SLA) | 99.9%, service credits on future invoices, with third-party, client-code and plugin-only outages not covered (our SLA) |
Infrastructure: a platform on AWS, or environments built per client
Levamo runs its platform on AWS and puts each site in an isolated container, which is a sensible design for a self-serve host: every customer gets the same well-tested environment, and you can create a site from the dashboard in minutes. Its SLA is explicit that it does not guarantee the availability of its cloud provider and points to Amazon’s own SLA instead (Levamo SLA).
MemberHost works the other way round. Each client gets its own node or cluster, with dedicated resources, as virtual machines on bare metal servers from data centre partners. We choose the hardware for fast single-core speed and configure each client’s environment for its plugins and traffic. That takes a conversation before anything goes live, which is slower to start and suits a site whose owner wants the setup built around them rather than picked from a menu.
Support: where the line sits
This difference matters on a membership site, because many of its problems cross the line between the plugins and the server.
Levamo splits support in two. Infrastructure and platform support, included on every plan, “covers the hosting environment itself: server config, caching, databases, deployments, DNS, SSL, performance tuning, backups, and migrations”. Application support, meaning “troubleshooting plugin and theme conflicts, debugging custom code paths”, comes with the Enhanced or Elite add-ons at $100 or $500 a month per account (Levamo support).
At MemberHost there is no separate application tier. When a member reports a slow course page, we look at the server and the WordPress side of the same request, because on a site running BuddyBoss, LearnDash or MemberPress the two are rarely separable. Our sister agency, MemberFix, works with BuddyBoss on client sites daily, and that is the team you reach.
The trade: Levamo answers live chat at any hour. We don’t offer 24/7 support.
Caching for logged-in members
Both hosts start from the same place. Levamo says “Traditional page caching either breaks these features or serves stale data to the wrong person” (Levamo), and we agree, which is why page caching stops helping once members log in.
The difference is in how object caching gets switched on. Levamo includes KeyDB and Redis object caching from its Business plan up. We configure caching per site, and on some stacks that means testing before enabling anything: MemberPress, for example, lists the Redis Object Cache plugin as a known incompatibility. If you run MemberPress on any host, ask these before persistent object caching goes live:
- Which object cache plugin or drop-in is installed, and which backend it talks to.
- Which pages are excluded from page caching (login, registration, account, anything gated).
- Whether registration, login, access rules, renewals and payment webhooks were tested with it on.
- Who rolls it back if members start seeing the wrong content.
Uptime terms
Levamo’s headline number is higher: 99.99% against our 99.9%. What the number covers matters as much as the number.
| Levamo | MemberHost | |
|---|---|---|
| Commitment | 99.99% of each service period | 99.9% of each monthly billing period |
| What it covers | Levamo’s own services, not its cloud provider | “Necessary Services” needed for your site to be reachable |
| Main exclusions | Cloud provider availability, control panel, support system, SSH/SFTP, add-ons, third-party services | Third-party services, maintenance in a daily 2am to 5am window (data centre local time), emergency maintenance, scheduled outages, force majeure including external service providers, traffic beyond the plan, client code and configuration, changes by other parties, and WordPress or plugin downtime while the server itself stays up |
| Remedy | 10%, 25% or 100% of next month’s fees by tier, requested within 30 days | Credits applied to future invoices, capped at the month’s value, never paid in cash, requested within 30 days, and the SLA’s remedies are the sole remedy |

Neither SLA pays for lost sales during a launch. If that is your real worry, the reliability guide covers what actually protects a launch.
Levamo may fit better when
- You run the BuddyBoss App. Levamo says “A large share of BuddyBoss App customers host on Levamo” and that the platform is built around it, and BuddyBoss’s general manager calls it their “preferred host” (Levamo).
- You want 24/7 live chat and a self-serve dashboard with staging and SSH.
- You want published prices and to sign up today without a call. Levamo also advertises a 14-day money back guarantee (Levamo migrations).
- You host several sites under one plan and they fit its visit allowances.
- Your members are near Virginia or Dublin.
MemberHost may fit better when
- Your problems live in the plugins. You want the people who run the server to also dig into the WordPress side, without a separate support add-on.
- Your stack needs caching decided case by case, such as MemberPress with persistent object caching, or a community site with heavy per-member feeds.
- Your members are somewhere other than US East or Dublin.
- Your traffic doesn’t fit a visit tier. Levamo itself notes that visit numbers “are estimates only” and asks dynamic sites to contact them first (Levamo pricing).
- A clustered setup with failover sync is worth it for your launch calendar.
MemberHost will suit you less if you need an answer at 3am from a chat window, want fixed published pricing, or want to spin up a site yourself tonight.
What switching looks like
Levamo’s team handles migrations for free and “completes most migrations within 48 business hours”, with membership sites possibly needing “a brief maintenance window (around 15 minutes)” (Levamo migrations).
We review your plugin configuration first, then handle the move as part of onboarding at no cost. Before you commit, we can clone the site to a staging copy and load test the workflows that matter to you, such as logins, lesson completions or checkout, with tools like loader.io and k6, so you compare numbers rather than promises. Reasonable refund requests are granted, and if you later move to another host, we will fully assist with that migration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Levamo the same company as Rapyd Cloud?
Yes. Levamo says “Rapyd Cloud is now Levamo” and that “The team, platform, support, infrastructure, and commitment to our customers are not” changing (Levamo).
Is Levamo better for BuddyBoss?
It is the host BuddyBoss’s own team built and recommends, which counts for a lot if you use the BuddyBoss App. MemberHost’s case is different: the team that runs your server also works on BuddyBoss sites daily through our sister agency, MemberFix, and plugin-level problems are part of that work rather than an add-on.
Does MemberHost offer 24/7 support?
No. Levamo does, over live chat. We work directly with each client instead, and we are upfront that we are not the right choice if round-the-clock chat is a requirement.
Which has the better uptime guarantee?
Levamo publishes the higher percentage, 99.99% against our 99.9%. Both exclude things outside their control, Levamo’s cloud provider among them, and both pay credits rather than covering lost revenue. Read the table above and both SLAs before deciding on that number alone.
